  1. Why should I participate?
    - Because the event offers -

  2. Who can nominate themselves for this event?
    Any employee who is part of IT organizations within Eaton globally are qualified to participate / nominate themselves and / or their team.
  3. Do I need to take permission from anyone before participating / nominating for this event?
    IT Hackathon 2020 is a voluntary event in which employees can nominate themselves and / or their team at their will. But we still suggest informing your manager before you nominate yourselves / your team, so they are aware of this commitment from your end.
  4. Can I put time against any project?
    We are afraid not. This is voluntary activity and not a project, particularly. This event has been designed to cultivate the culture of innovation within Eaton and to provide a platform to our colleagues to learn, collaborate and contribute to Eaton's innovation journey.
  5. Can I register for more than one challenge?
    Each participant can register for one challenge only.
  6. Will there be any technical guidance provided to the participants?
    After the registration process completes and we have a clear picture of the total number of participants and their chosen challenges, we will assign a mentor for each team. These mentors will help you navigate through your challenge.
  7. How many team members can there be in a team?
    A team can have 2 – 4 members.
  8. Is there any criteria to form a team?
    Participants are free to form teams with colleagues from any region, country or city. The only restriction is that each team member must be from Eaton's IT organizations.
  9. What do I get if I win?
    Interesting question! Winners will receive trophies with E-Star rewards. They will also be recognized across Eaton's internal communication platforms.
  10. Who do I reach out to for my use-case related queries?
    Participants can contact their mentors, for any query that they may have regarding their challenge.
  11. Who can I collaborate with for the solution to my challenge?
    Participants need to collaborate and work with their team members and mentor. The mentor will guide them to the right direction but will not share his/her expertise while arriving upon a solution for the team's challenge.
  12. Can I start working on the solution before presenting the design?
    As defined in the process for this event, participants need to complete the design, architecture and research for their challenge first, qualify for the next stage and can then move on to developing a solution.
  13. Are there any technology limitations to arrive at the solution?
    Participants can work with of any open source or Eaton's existing licensed technologies / software. No new licenses or software purchases are permitted.
  14. What is the collaboration mechanism within my team?
    Teams can collaborate over Microsoft Teams platform.
  15. What are the selection criteria for final solutions?
    Please refer to the details on our site to know more about the selection criteria that the judges will be considering.
